Artful Wedding Documentary + Honest Values

If you're anything like me, you value staying true to yourself over putting on a show for the sake of others. You'd choose a smaller gathering of  "your people" over filling a room with acquaintances. And you'd likely care less about what others think, and more about how your day actually felt - without sacrificing its visual beauty.

My clients choose me because they know what is most important in their life and want someone who can document those core moments of their world in the most organic, effortless way.

By reflecting back what they share + value most dearly.

"I wouldn't have it any other way. If Michael and I had to do it all over again, we'd still choose you. You've truly left a mark on us. Don't forget - you're part of the family now."

"From the very beginning, you made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. Miguel and I didn't really know how to pose or what to do, but you were incredibly patient and gave clear, helpful guidance. You have a great eye and a calming presence that made the whole process enjoyable and fun. Not a single moment was missed and you blended in seamlessly."

A Deeper Experience Makes A Deeper Final Gallery

Jason Altman Studio Values

More connection, more trust

I hold a belief that choosing your wedding photographer is quite similar to choosing the person you will marry - your core values must align.

Here are some of mine that enrich my clients' experience:

Total Transparency

At every step - from our consultation call to delivery of your final gallery - I don't disappear or leave you with unanswered questions.

You will be informed + aware of what you're investing into, what you will receive back, and why it may or may not be the right fit for you.

We choose each other - not force each other.

Trust + Reliability

You entrusting me with documenting your wedding is not something I take for granted. Thus you have me along side you to co-create your richest wedding day story. This means my work + process will be artful yet consistent. This means your memories will be stored securely on multiple mediums. This means you'll receive a spirited ally offering you both guidance + space where you need it.

Devotion

I tell the story of your two worlds coming together. From the final collection of photos, you receive an elevated narrative that feels euphoric + honest + human.

With restraint, attentiveness, and a genuine love for people, I skillfully curate only those shots that most accurately depict the heart and soul of your wedding.

Being Human

My clients and I celebrate simply being human + allowing that to decorate the process.

We treasure and encourage those perfect imperfections that make the photography + story true.

I love beauty. I love making things visually striking. But never at the expense of it being inauthentic.

Frequently Asked Questions

This is my first time in front of a camera, what should I know?

Some of the best photos I've ever taken were from couples that have never been photographed before! Together, we ensure that you don't feel awkward, out of place, or shy - way before your wedding happens. Bring all your best inside jokes, love and chemistry together and THAT will give us the best results.

Far in advance, we collaborate on inspo ideas, posing tips, lighting, and angles to have you feel very familiar and confident with the style and plan.

Plus - on your actual wedding day, there's an allocated time for your couple portraits and I'll be right there with you bringing the energy! Many clients have told me that I have a sense of ease to me and the process feels like play.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if the weather is unfavorable for an outdoor shoot?

Included in our planning - months before we know the forecast for your wedding day - we agree on a strong indoor Plan B option in the event the weather turns.

If your wedding will take place in a venue, then we make stunning photos in a variety of indoor settings within the venue itself.

If your wedding is covering multiple outdoor locations across NYC, then we curate an alternate set of indoor scenes to fit the mood + style of your wedding.

Frequently Asked Questions

what is the backup plan if you are ill?

I've been in the industry long enough to have made a handful of professional contacts that I would happily entrust with my own wedding day photography. In such a rare event that I cannot cover your wedding day - my associates will be carefully chosen based on who I think will connect best with my client + style of their wedding. Then you will be promptly put in contact together to ensure a world class wedding photography experience.

1 / 13

Frequently Asked Questions

do you offer payment plans?

Yes - while the deposit to reserve your date is 50% of the fee - the remaining half of the fee may be split into 25% to be paid at the end of the wedding day and the last 25% to be paid upon delivery of the final gallery. (Up to 21 days.)

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have experience in dark/tricky lighting?

Come reception time, the lights go down and it's time to party. Dark lighting is no issue as I use a powerful flash to light up what I need + how I need it.

In the past, I have experienced some testing lighting conditions in venues such as Cipriani and successfully made it through the day with sharp + well lit images.

Lighting + decor will vary from venue to venue. We will discuss the details and layout of the venue way in advance to know if any lighting should be planned for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we get the RAW files?

RAW files will not be delivered in any packages.

The final gallery delivered will be the best selection of high resolution edits that properly tell the story of your wedding and our creative collaboration together.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you handle wedding day stress?

My friends - I'm not merely your photographer through this journey together - I'm your therapist, advisor, creative consultant, hype man, fixer, and confidant. I've calmed people down, made them  laugh, had sit downs, pep talks, check ins - you name it. I'm in this with you.

My work flow balances the execution of pre- meditated planning and real time creative spontaneity. We follow a plan, but if something pops into mind and it's worth it + timely - we do it.
